About Wood

In the 1660s, many European and Scandinavian countries used logs for construction. The development of bronze and iron in Europe led to the production of metal tools which made it easier for people to work with wood, resulting in the creation of log cabins. In the 1770s, Swedish and Finnish immigrants brought their skills in building log cabins to America, introducing this style of construction to Delaware, which soon spread all across the United States. The popularity of log cabins peaked in the 1880s, with everyone finding a use for them, whether it was for homes or schools. Log cabins became a symbol of pioneer life, representing the hardships and virtues of the pioneers, such as self-reliance, independence, practicality, and ingenuity.

Polar Pine is an excellent building material and the optimal choice for log construction because it grows in harsh and inhospitable habitats. The trees grow slowly in these conditions, which makes polar pine an ideal material for reducing humidity in dwellings. Due to the short growing season, the wood has a dense and even structure with resin flowing in narrow ducts. These conditions give the wood excellent protection, strong resistance, and durability. Even after harvesting, the logs provide built-in protection with their excellent heat retaining and moisture absorbing qualities, making polar pine resistant to the elements.
